Secondary Trigeminal Neuralgia Caused by a Tentorial Dural Arteriovenous Fistula: A Case Report and Literature Review

چکیده
Trigeminal neuralgia caused by a tentorial dural arteriovenous fistula has rarely been reported. The mechanism underlying the development of trigeminal neuralgia has been reported to be the compression of the root entry zone by the arterialized draining vein. However, the cases showing refractory or recurrent neuralgia could imply the presence of another underlying mechanism. We herein describe a case in which the arterialized draining vein and the superior cerebellar artery co-compressed the root entry zone of the trigeminal nerve. This case shows another pathophysiology of secondary trigeminal neuralgia caused by a tentorial dural arteriovenous fistula. Direct surgery should be considered for the treatment of

Trigeminal neuralgia in a patient with a dural arteriovenous fistula in Meckel's cave: case report.
OBJECTIVE AND IMPORTANCE Trigeminal neuralgia is often the result of vascular compression at the root entry zone of the trigeminal nerve. We report a case of trigeminal neuralgia in a patient with a dural arteriovenous fistula in Meckel's cave. Endovascular closure of the fistula resulted in elimination of the patient's pain at the gasserian ganglion level. CLINICAL PRESENTATION A 77-year-old...
متن کاملSpinal dural arteriovenous fistula : a case report
Background: Spinal dural AVF is the most common type of spinal vascular malformation. However, presenting symptoms differ according to site of spinal involvement. This study described a case of arteriovenous malformation with paraparesis and incontinence. Case Presentation: Diagnosis of patient was confirmed by clinical and imaging examination using magnetic resonance image and ruling out ot...
متن کاملTentorial dural arteriovenous fistula of the medial tentorial artery
The medial tentorial artery arises from the meningohypophyseal trunk, a branch of the cavernous internal carotid artery, and it is poorly visualized on angiography in the absence of pathologically increased blood flow. We present the case of a 38-year-old man with intraventricular hemorrhage from a tentorial dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF) singularly supplied by a robust medial tentorial art...
متن کاملTrigeminal neuralgia caused by brain arteriovenous malformations: A case report and literature review
Few cases of trigeminal neuralgia (TGN) induced by brain arteriovenous malformations (bAVMs) have previously been reported. The present case report described one case of TGN caused by bAVMs in a 32-year-old male patient who suffered from recurrent pain in his right cheek for a period of two years, for whom the seizure frequency and duration of pain increased for 6 months. Magnetic resonance ima...
متن کاملTentorial Dural Arteriovenous Fistula Treated Using Transarterial Onyx Embolization
Tentorial dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF) is a rare vascular disease, which has high risk of intracranial hemorrhage. We present two cases of tentorial DAVF which were successfully treated with single trial of transarterial embolization using Onyx. We briefly reviewed the types of the tentorial DAVF and strategies of treatment.
